Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was natural for doubts to be raised about his future following another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in twelve games, representing the team's poorest run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received a lot of support from above,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I accept my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I perceive the belief. But I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Player Reaction

Slot expressed regret over known shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a period like this with performances this poor.”

He finished, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to its rightful place, show everyone once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
