Prosecutors report that a ex- physician stands accused of carrying out assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
These allegations come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
