Devoted supporters of Ariana Grande are urging that a man who breached a barrier and seized the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A viral clip reveals the Australian man pushing past media personnel and charging at Grande while the cast walked down a event pathway flanked by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the gathering by security officers.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "free after being arrested", though official papers revealed that he was set to attend court on the next day. It is unknown if he was charged.
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has disrupted a performance. His Instagram account includes videos of him interrupting other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at the artist's Sydney performance in June this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last winter.
"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is evidently a criminal offence," commented an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user wrote.
Numerous supporters accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her May 2017 show in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming many.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" wrote one more comment on Instagram.
A number of fans also criticised security officers at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while others called for online networks to ban Mr Wen's content.
In clips circulating online, Grande seemed shocked when she was approached by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
Many of fans had congregated in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had waited for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be launched on November 21, is the follow-up of a two-film version of the acclaimed Broadway and West End production Wicked, which focuses on the unexpected bond between two contrasting sorceresses.
The show itself is a adaptation of the 1900 story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown decorated with roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and received 10 award recognitions, earning a pair for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
