Los Angeles Faces Historic High Temperatures Just Days After Severe Winter Weather.

After enduring torrential rains that resulted in floodwaters across parts of the city, Los Angeles is now seeing unusually warm conditions for this time of year.

All-Time High Readings

During the day Friday, the temperature climbed to ninety-one degrees Fahrenheit in central LA, per data from meteorologists. This breaks the previous daily record for this date, which was 31 degrees Celsius (88 Fahrenheit) and was recorded in 2025.

"Exceptionally warm weather" were noted on NWS charts for the region.

Public Health Alerts

Forecasters cautioned that Friday's conditions posed an "increased danger for heat illness" for those at risk. Their advice featured:

  • Staying hydrated.
  • Avoiding outdoor activities during the afternoon hours of the day.
  • Never leaving children or pets unattended in a hot car.

An Extreme Weather Swing

This sudden spike in temperature follows closely after a powerful winter storm that pummeled the area last week. That event unleashed heavy snow, strong winds, and thunderstorms to mountainous regions, triggering evacuation orders for countless residents.

Tragically, the severe weather also caused a deadly avalanche in the Lake Tahoe area, which resulted in nine fatalities.

Temperatures Easing

The outlook suggests a cooldown is expected. Temperatures were forecast to fall to around 61°F (16°C) in downtown LA by overnight.

Several cities that experienced ninety degrees included Burbank, Woodland Hills, and Long Beach. Additionally, Santa Maria, Oxnard, Camarillo, and Westwood were projected to see the high 80s.

In the coming days, central Los Angeles can anticipate weather in the 80s, with mid-70s temperatures on tap for the following week.
