Powerful Cyclone Heads for Vietnam Following Causing no Fewer than 114 Lives in Philippines
Prior to making landfall in Vietnam, Kalmaegi left a trail of devastation in the Philippines - and at least 114 lives lost.
Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has declared a state of calamity - the threshold of which involves mass casualty, extensive property destruction, and interruption of income sources and everyday existence for people in the affected areas.
The typhoon, referred to locally as Tino, ripped through the densely inhabited island of Cebu, submerging entire towns and carrying vehicles down roads.
Tens of thousands of people had to be relocated, others are resting in designated safe zones.

Disaster personnel have started operations while evacuated residents seek shelter in designated safe areas.
The extent of this disaster has led to massive rescue operations across the affected regions.
