Three Athletes In Contention for Young Sports Personality Prize

England footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the this year's Young Athlete of the Year award.

The three finalists have been honoured for their outstanding achievements over the previous year.

Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses claim victory in Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the very first time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a record-breaking innings.

Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his remarkable rise.

The shortlisted athletes were announced live on a popular morning radio program.

The champion will be announced during a live broadcast on the annual sports awards show on the 18th of December.

The ceremony will be broadcast from 7 PM GMT.

The Football Star

A mere three months after her international debut, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to European Championship victory.

She entered the fray to score key tying goals in both the quarter-final and semi-final.

Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.

Later in the year, she was awarded the Golden Girl trophy for the finest emerging star on the continent.

She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the global standout among U21 women.

Agyemang, who has been playing for Brighton on loan from Arsenal, suffered an ACL injury in October.

"To be named a finalist for this award is a privilege," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm appreciative of the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."

Littler's Profile

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler's 2025 began in incredible form as - aged 17 - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.

He secured a dominant victory over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious three major tournament wins.

He didn't stop there - his triumph in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the very first time.

At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, breaking the previous record.

"Being nominated for this award again is a massive accolade," stated Littler. "My victory in 2024 was a proud moment for me and I've had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts."

Perrin's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's most exciting young talents and rose to fame with an unbelievable and unprecedented innings in August.

Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the fastest by an English woman in T20s.

It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.

Perrin finished second in the batting rankings and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.

"I'm deeply humbled to be shortlisted for the young athlete award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it encourages more young women to get into cricket."
