Ways the Denver Broncos and the 'play-dough' quarterback can stop that Chiefs' rule.

NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage includes text commentary for Sunday's games via various channels, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, audio coverage can be heard through select stations covering a separate game (from 21:00 BST).

It's week six in the NFL season , following recent talk regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being a potential Super Bowl match-up, each surrendered their unbeaten records.

Notable in those games were the amount of penalties both conceded. The Eagles did so at crucial times meaning they essentially defeated themselves having led 17-3 going into the fourth period against the Denver Broncos, who play in London this Sunday.

However it proved positive to see how Denver's QB the rookie was able to have the shortfall and then lead three successful possessions in three attempts in the fourth quarter, securing the victory 21-17.

Denver boast the top defender with CB their star corner. They are first in goal-line defense, while the Eagles lead the league in red zone offence, and Denver prevailed in that contest.

They had the Eagles' number in terms of disguised blitzes. They did not always rushing more than four pass rushers instead they might position two linebackers in the interior before drop them out and send a slot defender from the outside.

Early on in the campaign, we said on a program how Denver might emerge as this season's surprise contenders. They ended the previous year strongly and excelled of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's dark horses?

Recently acquired tight end Evan Engram has excelled significantly while new RB JK Dobbins is a guy they believe in. He now ranks 5th in the NFL in ground gains (402) as well as tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

I love how head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUN IT!" at the top on his call sheet.

That shows how the Broncos represent a squad that wants to run first, because you can achieve much off the back of that. It reduces opposing rushes and keeps you in positive down and distances.

It's also helped QB the young passer, who entered the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – just behind a star QB in rookie records (31 in 2020).

Other elite QBs have the arm strength to throw all over, but they lack in the same way as Nix. He has incredible arm talent, which is different, plus he is so athletic.

His assets are his movement, being able to pass on the run, and finding varied release points to make throws as he moves outside protection, the bootlegs. He can deliver that layered pass over the middle and past defenders.

As a rookie QB, aged 25, he's got a lot of poise in the pocket and is not bothered by the blitz. He aims to evade being tackled as much as possible and is able throw in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and is very decisive.

If you consistently run the ball it eats up time and makes the opponent to be in play extended periods, and when you've got a mobile QB the defense must defend the field vertically side to side. It can be draining.

Nix has pushed back with the coach during games at times and it seems the coach likes that attitude, that he's a fierce rival. I think it's exciting for him to have a rookie QB who's kind of like moldable clay. The coach can truly develop him how he wants to shape him. I think it's a special experience for him.

The head coach owns a Super Bowl and now surpassed a legend for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed it all. I think the achievements the Broncos are experiencing on offence is mostly due to his guidance, his schemes, his game sense – and the combination with the QB aids make him into who he is.

You wouldn't want a more qualified person in your ear, to assist you through some of the tougher situations and boost self-belief.

I believe in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet are they good enough to go against a top squad at full strength? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia in their last game.

Right now, it's unlikely the Broncos are elite. They're working above average, which is a good place to be in the AFC West. All they need to do is maintain this trajectory.

They're really good at leaning into their strength, that is the ground game, and that's exactly what they should do versus the New York Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.

New York have allowed 140 yards on the ground each contest (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (10th worst), and they're the sole squad without a win a game.

Ever since the NFL started recording takeaways decades ago, the Jets are the inaugural squad to be without any turnovers through five games, this is surprising considering that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

The Chiefs' QB stated Kansas City are off to a poor start following a recent loss by the Jaguars.

After this Sunday's game, Denver face a manageable slate up to their break (in week 12) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans plus the Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Looking at the AFC West, the Chiefs hold a losing record and the Broncos are even with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could make a run for the top of the division.

It depends upon which form of the Chiefs they meet since Denver {beat|def
